The Line Breaks newsletter publishes monthly via Substack. Each issue is dedicated to a single writer or project. We work through a mixture of commissioning and open calls. Calls for submissions appear here regularly.
SUBMISSIONS OPEN
We are currently open for submissions!
What are we looking for? Each issue of Line Breaks is dedicated to a single project or writer that uses poetry in a socially-engaged or documentary way. We publish a short prose piece about the work (max 750 words) alongside 2-3 examples of creative work. This might be poetry/poetic writing/recordings/images. The creative work might have been produced by a single writer, or by different participants on a community or group project, but we need a single contributor to act as overall author for the submission. We pay £90 per publication.
HOW TO SUBMIT - to have your work considered for an issue of the Line Breaks newsletter, please collect the following information in a single document, and email it as an attachment to editorial@linebreaks.org. There is no need to include a cover letter. We are happy to consider simultaneous submissions if poems themselves are currently under consideration elsewhere.
a 150 word max description of the work/project
2 examples of creative pieces from the project - e.g. 2 poems or links to recordings/images
a max 100 word author bio
